June 30, 2017, Morrisville, NC: VIGILINT, an international health protection company, today announced Jason Pickett, MD FACEP FAEMS, a member of the VIGILINT physician team, will also hold the position of deputy medical director for the Austin-Travis County EMS. He will join the Office of the Medical Director, which is responsible for comprehensive medical oversight of all clinical care provided by the Austin-Travis County EMS System. Dr. Pickett is also an Assistant Professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine and the Director of the Center for Prehospital and Operational Medicine for Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio.

Dr. Pickett began his EMS career by obtaining his EMT certification in 1994 and Paramedic certification in 1996. He has Bachelor of Fine Arts from Carnegie Mellon where he served as a paramedic with the university-based EMS program. After working as a Paramedic in Charlotte, NC, he obtained his Medical Doctorate from Eastern Virginia Medical School and completed his Residency in Emergency Medicine at Wright State University where he served as Chief Resident.

Dr. Pickett is board certified in Emergency Medicine and subspecialty board certified in Emergency Medical Services. In addition to his work in prehospital medicine, Dr. Pickett is a Battalion Surgeon in the US Army for a special operations unit and has served in three combat deployments to the Middle East during his tenure.
